# Mathematical Problem of Breaker Carding Machine

Breaker Carding Machine:
Breaker cards are generally down striking and half-circular. In this machine, the primary function of jute carding is done by the action of worker and cylinder and the cleaning actions are done between worker and stripper. It is called Breaker Card because it breaks up to the long reed of jute.

Different qualities of jute in the batch are also blended and much shorter fibers are removed too. The machines used in the carding process are generally two types-

1. The breaker card
2. The finisher card

The main three functions of breaker card are:

1. Individualization of fibre.
2. Drafting of fiber.
3. Sliver formation.

A breaker card is set to work with a clock length of 12.9Yds and a draft of 12 in the machine. If the dollop wt is 30 lbs. What will be the wt of delivered sliver in-lbs/100 Yds?

• Waste=4%
• Efficiency =85%

#### Objectives of Breaker Carding:

1.  To Split up & Breakdown.
2.  Convert the reeds of jute into a uniform fibrous strand, sliver suitable for further processing.
3.  Individualize & parallelize.
4.  To straighten.
5.  Remove trash from fibers.
6.  To remove short fibers.

After the fiber from the softening machine has been conditioned for the desired time, it is ready for one of the most important processes in the cycle of jute manufacture: this process is termed carding. In the carding, the operation the long strands of jute are converted into a continuous ribbon of fibers. The ribbon is known as a sliver.
