Consumption and costing of the garment is an important task for merchandisers. In the apparel sector, an order profit totally depends on the fabric consumption of garments. If the calculation is not correct then the company will face to huge loss and reputation also fall. Woven bottom consumption and costing are widely used in the garment industry and especially in apparel merchandising. This article will be helpful for trainee merchandisers to know the consumption and costing of woven basic pants.

Costing of Woven Basic Pants Formula

Let,

• ½ waist = 28 cm
• Front rise = 14 cm
• ½ thigh = 18 cm
• Inseam length = 72 cm
• Fabric width= 45’’

……………………………………(28 X 14) + (18 X 72) X 4
Consumption / pics = …………………………………………… yds + 5% wastage
……………………………………………6.45 X 45 X 36

= 0.583 yds

Consumption / dozen = 0.583 X 12 = 7 yds

Here, fabric price = $ 4.0/yds
Fabric price / dozen = 4 X 7 = $ 28

Here,

Fabric price/ dozen ………….= $ 28
Per dozen CM cost ………….= $ 7.5
Per dozen accessories cost ..= $5.0
Per dozen overhead cost …..= $1.8 (bank handling, carriage, forwarding)
Commission ……………………= $3

Total FOB price = $45.3 (including commission)

Here, total FOB price ………………….= $45.3
Per dozen sea freight …………………..= $ 1.34

Total C&F price (Hamburg)/dozen = $ 46.64

Again, total C&F price / dozen = $ 46.64
Per dozen insurance cost ………= $ 1.3

Total CIF price / dozen = $ 47.94

Total CIF price/piece = (47.94÷12)
= $ 3.995
